The
Craft Potters Society of
Ireland (CPSI)
was founded in 1977 by a
small group of enthusiasts
who felt that it was time
for Irish potters to get
talking with a view to
seeing how they could
support each other in what
is often a very lonely job.
At the time there were few
studios established and
those potters always seemed
to be too busy to get
involved in organising a
formal group so it fell to a
few part-time but very
energetic potters to make
the first move. From it's
beginnings the society set
out to be as inclusive as
possible. Membership is open
to anyone with even a
hands-off interest in clay.
In 2006 the Society
changed it's name to
Ceramics Ireland
which is the name of its
journal.
